Ottawa High School Girl Wins Ontario Provincial Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest

On Saturday, June 21, 2014 during their Annual Archbishop and Clergy Appreciation Breakfast, the Knights of Columbus of the Archdiocese of Ottawa Association presented 17 year old Dominica Vuletic, a grade 11 student of St. Patrick High School of Ottawa, with the 2014 ON State Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest  Winner’s Award (Grade 11 Category). Miss Vuletic was sponsored by Resurrection of Our Lord Council 13701 of Ottawa. The presentation was made on behalf of the association by His Grace the Most Reverend Terrence Prendergast, SJ, Archbishop of Ottawa.


 ALTA VISTA YOUTH WINS KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS PROVINCIAL SOCCER CHALLENGE TITLE

This past week (May 12th) the Ontario State Council of Knights of Columbus announced that nine year old Osmand Ibrahim of Arch Street Public School, the winner of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus Regional Soccer Challenge, had won the 2013-2014 K of C Ontario Provincial Soccer Challenge in the boys’ age nine category, in Toronto.

The Soccer Challenge is a competition designed for players to demonstrate the most basic soccer skill – the “penalty kick.” Each player is allowed 15 shots at the goal from the 12 yard penalty line.

Participation in the Soccer Challenge is open to all girls and boys ages 9 to 14, with winners progressing through, local, regional, and provincial championship competitions.  

The local council (13701) of the Knights of Columbus who sponsored Osman Ibrahim is based at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church on Saunderson Drive in the Alta Vista area of Ottawa.
